A clouded leopard practicing her swordplay in a rainshower...

I'm rather fascinated with Ancient China, and the artistic cinematography in Hong Kong kung fu movies set in Ancient China, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and "Hero" - which provided inspiration for this piece.

I also wanted to really have a setting that felt real - that felt like the character was really immersed in the setting - using lighting, perspective, and the rain to unify the piece.

This was a difficult piece for me, but also a very fulfilling one, in the challenges I posed for myself. I think it is too early for me to really say how well I did at those challenges, but I think it was definately worthwhile, and I'm proud of it =).

It's so easy to visualise her moving from that stance to another, the rain sleeting around her, sword flashing as she practices her weaponskill. Veeeeery nice.

I've been folowing your WIP posts on FA and I can say that the end is truly amazing.

The set from your last WIP and the final here is huge. The rain is a really great final touch.

And it's always nice to see WIP shots and get a look at the process of creating an art piece.
